SUPER SUSHI ROLL

DEVELOPER: BLEX CHAPMAN

RELEASE DATE: TBA

PLATFORMS: PC

Super Sushi Roll instantly grabbed my attention with its curious title. I had to see what it was all about. Super Sushi Roll is a side-scrolling 2D platformer where you roll sushi with your left stick and control chopsticks with the right stick—the objective is to get the sushi from the starting point to the goal at the end of the map within 10 tries.

Super Sushi Roll has four game modes to choose from: Classic, where you choose an area to complete within the time limit, Training, where you can hone your sushi skills and hunt for collectibles with infinite time and sushi, Buffet Challenge, where you play through all the levels in the game without any extra sushi, and Dessert Challenge, which is just like Buffet Challenge but every collectible is required before you can go to the next level.

Super Sushi Roll’s developer, Alex Chapman, shared that one of their inspirations for this game was Super Monkey Ball. I saw the similarities between the two games because it felt like a side-scrolling pinball game which resembled the chopstick mechanic. I was crazy confident in my ability until I was humbled on level 4 in the best way possible. Super Sushi Roll is perfect for those looking for a fun, momentum-focused platformer. The full release for Super Sushi Roll is TBA but will be released on Steam and Itch.io. There is a demo available on Steam too, so check out!
