DEATH OF A WISH
Death of a Wish, developed by Melessthanthree, is an intense souls-like experience. This game does not mess around and throws you right into the action. The phenomenal writing in this game had me fully immersed. When I had to type in the name of a loved one instead of my own name for the protagonist to swear to honor, I knew I was in for it.
Full disclosure: Kevin Wong, a publisher who was running the booth, suggested I do easy/easy, but I decided to do hard/hard, so I did not make it to the first boss. The experience was still fantastic, however. The scratchy, sketch-like art style helps view the world from the protagonist’s eye and creates a desire to destroy the evil that the protagonist faces.
The gameplay is a compelling combination of hack-and-slash with souls-like intensity. There are rest points to regain health, entrances to depths, and beautifully conversational storytelling. I definitely recommend Death of a Wish to those who are looking for an intense hack-and-slash challenge with incredible writing and an unlimited stamina experience.
