NOVEMBER 27TH, 2020
This game is a different type of immersive story-based adventure puzzle game that exceedingly racks your brain and brings its own eccentric humor.
Released August 6th, 2020, There is No Game: Wrong Dimension was developed and published by French developer Draw Me A Pixel.
GRAPHICS 9/10
There is No Game: Wrong Dimension does something You don’t see very often with graphics. Staying true to sprite and pixelated-type graphics that are sharp and polished, different chapters feature a variety of nostalgic settings. There is no doubt that these graphics were designed by someone who really lived/played in each featured era of video games.
SOUND QUALITY 10/10
There is No Game: Wrong Dimension is immaculate in every sense of sound, from the background music to the voice acting.
The voice acting was one of my favorite things about the game — there are even original songs sung by the actors! Each area has its own exciting sound bites that bring you back to the golden age of video games.
GAMEPLAY 9/10
If I could say two words about the gameplay they would be captivating and challenging. Each area has many layers of puzzles. Each puzzle might be more difficult to figure out while others may come to you instantly. At times, I was trapped in my own world while playing this game, anxious to see the next gauntlet of bewildering challenges while also progressing through different dimensions.
Throughout the game, I was constantly excited to see what was in store.
STORY 9/10
You begin the game as a "user" wanting to play a game and are introduced to a "Game" who does not want to let you play. This “Game” tries everything to get you not to play the game, thus the name, There is no Game. A villian tries to escape and take over the world but with a different spin on a heroes journey. It is hard to explain this story without divulging any spoilers so I will simply say, there is amazing character development, a love interest, growing/rekindling friendships, and a final task you are trying to complete.
CHARACTERS 9/10
Each character is crafted perfectly for the setting. You meet characters from all over the world and from different game dimensions. All characters stay true to their dimension and they are humorous, engaging, and fascinating. Each brings a nostalgic factor into the mix without overdoing it.
OVERALL 9.2/10
