Developed and curated by Indie World Order, IWOCon 2021 (Eye-Woe-Con) is a free digital convention application showcasing upcoming and current indie games with a pirate flair. The Indie World Order is a community of passionate and dedicated independent game developers, artists, and content creators who work to lift up the indie game community.
Here’s how it works: simply download IWOCon 2021 on steam, create your digital pirate avatar using the preset customization options, and set sail to visit the various islands to interact with a variety of stylized indie-game booths. Simply enjoy this convention at your own leisure and savor the experience of the digital atmosphere while you learn about the present and future of indie games.
With over 200 exhibitors, there is a game for everyone at IWOCon 2021.
Here are some indies that caught our attention in IWOCon2021:
POLTER PALS
Polter Pals is a diorama-style puzzle game in which you make ghost friends by steering the living into comically deadly hazards to release their souls and keep up with the latest memes by getting popular on the afterlife's hottest social media app, LiveBurial. Polter Pals will be released in Spring 2021.
AT EVE’S WAKE
At Eve’s Wake is an interactive horror story inspired by H.P Lovecraft's work about surviving a family you never knew and uncovering their sinister practices. At Eve’s Wake is set to release on Halloween 2021.
EVAN’S REMAINS
Evan’s Remains is a story of a lost boy-genius named Evan who asks a girl named Dysis to come to find him. As Dysis, you’ll need to solve an intricate series of puzzles to unravel the entire mystery—and bring Evan home. Evan’s Remains is available now on Steam, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Android, and Xbox One.
LAWMAGE ACADEMY
Lawmage Academy is a magic school RPG where you learn spells, craft potions, make friends, and go on exciting adventures as you uncover the dark secrets of Lawmage Academy. This story-rich game has a demo that is available now on Steam. The full game is set to release in 2022.
WE SHOULD TALK.
We Should Talk. is a short-form narrative game that will make you think carefully about the words you choose. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. Can your relationship survive the night? We Should Talk is available now on Nintendo Switch, PS 4, and Xbox One.
KRISTALA
Kristala seamlessly fuses fast, ferocious, 3D combat with smart storytelling and rich, robust RPG mechanics. Uncover and upgrade a multitude of weapons, spells, and additional items as you explore a wild, wonder-filled world shrouded in both mystery and magic. Kristala’s demo will be available in Spring 2021.
HAVEN
Haven is a story of two lovers who gave up everything and escaped to a lost planet to be together. Glide through a mysterious landscape, explore a fragmented world and fight against what’s trying to tear them apart in this RPG adventure. Haven is available now on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Steam, Xbox Series X and Series S, PS5, and Xbox One.
SHATTERED: TALE OF THE FORGOTTEN KING
Shattered: Tale of the Forgotten King is a dark action RPG with skill-based combat, innovative open-world platforming. The world as it was is gone, lost with the disappearance of the King. As a Wanderer of these forsaken lands, it is up to you to piece together the fragments of reality and retrace the fall of civilization. Available now on PS 4, Steam, and Xbox One.
8 DOORS: ARUM’S AFTERLIFE ADVENTURE
8Doors: Arum's Afterlife Adventure is a story-driven Metroidvania-style action-platformer with a minimalist color pallet and retro cartoon animation that is heavily influenced by Korean folktales. 8 Doors is set to release on April 8, 2021.
SIZABLE
Sizable is a relaxing and peaceful puzzle/exploration game released on March 19, 2021. The calming nature of the gameplay meshes well with the music choice. Give Sizable a try by downloading its demo on Steam.
8-Bit Adventures 2
8-Bit Adventures 2 is a retro pixel-styled RPG with turn-based combat with pixel art designs that are full of life and personality. 8-bit adventures is set to release sometime in 2021.
TOASTY ASHES OF DUSK
Toasty Ashes of Dusk is an upcoming Action-Adventure RPG starring Marshall the Marshmallow Knight who attempts to stop an all-powerful evil and protect the magical world of Geldia. Toasty Ashes of Dusk is set to release in late 2022.
UNBOUND: WORLDS APART
Unbound: Worlds Apart is an upcoming 2D Metroidvania puzzle platformer where you can conjure magic portals to travel between the worlds. Each portal gives you unique abilities to solve puzzles, outsmart abominable creatures, and unravel mysteries. Unbound’s demo is available now on Steam.
IWOcon 2021 is available for free now on Steam. Those wishing to donate to the Indie World Order can do so via Kofi and Patreon. Indie World Order also has merchandise for those wishing to take home the magic of IWO.
