Before I jump into all the nitty-gritty I want to take a moment to thank you for being willing to stream indie games as a part of Game Raven Review. Every stream, every shoutout, and every mention means the world to small indie developers. Most of these individuals and small teams do not have the capital to pay for a full-fledged marketing campaign. You are giving these developers much-needed exposure for their game. They have put their blood, sweat, and tears into these games and you are helping them make it all worth it.

SETTING UP YOUR STREAM
CHOOSING YOUR GAME
We have a TON of resources available to us when it comes to choosing games. Check out the review-ideas channel on our writers’ Discord or the suggest-a-game, promote-your-game, or iwocon2021 channels on our public Discord. The Indie World Order also has a ton of games available from small developers. AngelStar Studios has also graciously offered games to us as well. Jump over to their Raven Angel Server to browse their selection and request keys. We also post on Twitter on Saturdays for developers to share what they are working on and we usually get a ton of responses. This is also a great resource.
TESTING YOUR GAME & PLANNING BACKUP
Be sure to test your game before going live. We are working with small developers so sometimes games have trouble running. Whether you receive your game through Steam or itch.io or any other platform, please play through the first bit of the game off stream to be sure it works properly. Additionally, have a backup game ready in case something happens during your stream.
ADJUSTING YOUR OVERLAYS
You can keep your usual overlays for your stream — we want you to be yourself as much as possible. All we ask is that you include the Game Raven Logo somewhere on your overlay. This folder has a few to choose from:
NAMING YOUR STREAM
Please name your stream like this:
Indie (DAY OF THE WEEK): (NAME OF GAME) with @(YOUR HANDLE)
for example:
Indie Friday: Lawmage Academy with @PuppetMasterEN
LETTING US KNOW
This is SUPER important. We are here to promote you as well as promote indies. We can’t promote your stream if we don’t know what you’re playing though. Please go into the Twitch Calendar schedule and update what game you will be playing at least 3-5 days before you stream.
POSTING ON YOUR SOCIALS
Post on your socials as soon as you have chosen your game and tested it and be sure to tag the developer of your game. This way they can have some time to plan to jump into your stream if they can. SETTING UP OBS
Please check out this tutorial by Taz about how to set up your OBS. You will have to readjust your settings (bitrate, audio, video, etc.) after you add the new profile because it will only be set at default settings. You only need to do this once and it will be saved and not interfere with your other profiles. If you have any additional questions feel free to reach out to Taz.

PROMOTE YOURSELF
DO THIS ALL THE TIME! You are on this channel not only to promote indie games but also to promote yourself. So, don’t be shy! Mention yourself early and often. Talk yourself up!
YOUR INTRODUCTION
Be yourself! Welcome people and tell them who you are and who Game Raven is (a group of content creators who are here to support small indie games). Tell us what you are playing. Please mention the developer and talk about them (where they are from, how big their team is, etc.) It doesn’t need to be much. Be clear, be confident, and don’t overthink it.
HOW SUBSCRIPTIONS WORK
We are not accepting subscriptions to the Game Raven channel for a number of reasons. Rather, please have your viewers subscribe directly to you as a streamer. We have set up a command to make this easier for them:
!streamers - this gives viewers a list of our streamers. Simply direct them to your page to sub!
BE PROFESSIONAL
Remember, these Developers have put their blood, sweat, and tears into these games. Do your best to be encouraging but honest. They are looking for authentic feedback about their game as well as promoting it. Please keep your stream as family-friendly as is possible for you (limit the swears, don’t openly drink or smoke… you know the drill).
Most importantly: have fun and be yourself.
I know, this sounds cheesy. But seriously, we are here to PLAY games. And it’s supposed to be fun. If you miss something it’s totally ok! At the end of the day, we’re just here to support indies.
