Finterior Decorator is an excellent pet simulator game made for Windows by a small Norwegian indie studio, ILLUMINE GAMES. Co-founders Ørjan and Megan were joined by developers, Maemi, Kytana, and Courtney, to create this family-friendly fish simulator.

In Finterior Decorator, you start with only one fish in an empty aquarium and as you make money you are able to decorate their aquarium with all kinds of props, grass, rocks, and of course, with more fish.

GRAPHICS 6/10

The developers of Illumine Games know how to create relaxing colors and great designs. The fish with very short bodies and substantial white eyes come across as a little creepy though. Maybe the developers were attempting to make them cuter by having them resemble babies, I’m not sure. Aside from the unsettling appearance of the fish, I felt that with realistic shapes and cartoonish textures, the environment, plants, and decorations inside the aquarium look excellent.

SOUND QUALITY 8/10

The game includes repetitive but very calming background music. The relaxing bubbles and other aquarium sound effects are quite enjoyable. All of the sounds perfectly fit the game’s atmosphere.

Finterior Decorator is the perfect game to relax with after having a hard day.

GAMEPLAY 6/10

After double-clicking on the game icon, the player sees a straightforward game menu, aquarium, and blue background. After pressing on the play button, the menu disappears, leaving the player in front of the aquarium. Except for the aquarium, there is only one flower pot and one bag of fish food inside the room; there is no other furniture, doors, windows, or a floor and ceiling. That is all for you to fill in throughout the game. Be creative and make it all your own.

CHARACTERS 7/10

At first, there is only one fish in an aquarium who is named by one of the developers. Every time you start a new game or buy a fresh fish, their names will randomly generate. For example, once you start the game, the fish’s name might be Orjan, but its name is Megan another time. But don't worry; you can rename your fish at any time.

STORY 6/10

At first, this game looks like a simple pet simulator game with pet fish in an aquarium. But the fact that you, as a player, can move the camera through the glass of the aquarium made me ask the question, who exactly are you? Just another fish who can fly, go through glass, buy more fishes and feed all other fishes but at the same time, and who doesn't need to eat? Or are you just a human (pet owner) who has a small body and all kinds of superpowers? If we ignore all these questions, however, this game is exciting and easy to play.

OVERALL 7.4/10

For parents and kids alike, Finterior Decorator is the perfect end to a long day.

This game is very suitable for kids who want fish. Kids can enjoy the cartoonish graphics, learn the responsibility of feeding fish, and learn to better count by using coins in-game to buy props and more fish. This game is free to download for PC with Windows, and unlike many other free PC games, this one will not automatically go on the internet by opening your browser and show a lot of ads.
