If you own a Nokia 3310 and enjoy playing Space Impact, then Atom Blitz from Night Owl Digital is right for you.
GRAPHICS 9/10
The graphics in this game are a beautiful mixture of retro and modern art styles.
SOUND QUALITY 7/10
Well, this is not Guitar Hero, so we can’t expect awesome sound effects and music. In this mobile space shooter, sound effects and music are limited to shooting and explosion sound effects and simple background music.
GAMEPLAY 8/10
As the developers from Night Owl Digital say, Atom Blitz is a mobile casual space shooter that is also an endless runner. It is basically like Jetpack Joyride but with space shooter elements inspired by Space Impact. The game has plenty of power-ups for health, shields, ammo, and shockwave. There are also three different ships to choose from and a lot of different “skins” to change how your ship looks. The ammo in the game is not infinite, but regenerates over time to make the game challenging. In an effort to make the game more casual and welcoming to new players, endless runner elements were also added.
CHARACTERS 8/10
The main characters in this game are three spaceships, each with their own unique shape. These ships can be further customized by changing their "skins”, which you can buy with coins you earn in-game. Another reason to continue playing this great game is the many evil alien species and their very dangerous ships you encounter along the way.
OVERALL 8/10
Atom Blitz is made by a small but very talented team from the Philippines. According to the developers, this is the first and final version and they are totally in the right, because this game is already perfect and couldn’t be improved by another version. The game is already available for the Android platform, but if the game earns more than $100, they would probably make an iOS version as well.
This game was released on May 8th, 2021 and is available for Android on the Google Play store.
